Written in Microsoft .NET, Digital Flywheel™ is a solution framework consisting of a suite of tools that provides a platform to rapidly develop and deploy applications around design-rich, industry standard layout tools such as Adobe InDesign. The interface incorporates Web 2.0 technologies such as AJAX, creating a user-friendly interface that is similar to a desktop application.
The framework is designed for integration with any business application. It can be embedded within an existing Web application, a portal solution or even a batch processing engine. The Web services-based solution also enables integration with a messaging system. Further, these Web services can be invoked synchronously or asynchronously, allowing maximum flexibility and minimum need for user intervention when working with complex documents.
With Digital Flywheel™, output format is independent of originating file type. The supported output types include JPEG, PNG, EPS, Postscript, PDF, and InDesign. Further, the system can collect various components of an InDesign document, including fonts, images, and color profiles, to create a package for final delivery to the user.
This Web-based tool lets anyone throughout an enterprise easily build and deliver dynamic on-demand documents, without technical expertise working with InDesign. By logging in through a Web browser and using the intuitive drag-&-drop interface, users can customize templates with approved logos, product specs, marketing copy, imagery, or other content.
