WebTop Publishing - The practice of accessing print design templates and creating new print design documents directly from a Web browser, without the need for QuarkXPress or InDesign. WebTop publishing software requires a server-side design application such as QuarkServer, InDesign Server, or proprietary software such as PageFlex. These products interact with Web applications to render WYSIWYG versions of templates. Users fill in form data for text and images that need to appear on the page, then submit those variables through the Web application, which in turn passes the variables to the design application.

WebTop Publishing can also offer the opportunity to drive file versions from a data set, be it from a relational database or from an XML or delimited file.
